The Northampton Regional Emergency Medical Services (NREMS) received recognition from the Lehigh Valley Health Network for their efforts in caring for patients with heart problems known as acute cardiac syndrome before reaching the hospital.
Northampton was selected after the health network's cardiology department reviewed the performance data provided by local EMS providers hosted by the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
NREMS has placed an emphasis into the training of staff to recognize heart attacks, treat and alert the emergency department in the prehospital setting. In addition, state of the art equipment, new technology and aggressive treatment with excellent support by local emergency rooms and doctors has made this possible.
NREMs provides ambulance services to the Townships of Allen, Hanover and Lehigh as well as the Boroughs of Catasauqua, North Catasauqua and Northampton. It is also the provider of advanced life support services to East Allen Township.
