State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, announced his annual Special Needs Awareness Day will be held March 29 at St. Luke's West End Medical Center, 501 Cetronia Road, Allentown.
The event is being held in conjunction with St. Luke's University Health Network and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation. More than 40 exhibitors will be on hand to share information about resources available to Pennsylvanians with special needs.
"Many Pennsylvanians who have special needs, and those who care for them, are unaware of the wide variety of services that have been established to assist them," Mackenzie said. "Special Needs Awareness Day is an excellent chance to learn about these opportunities. It's also a lot of fun and a great place to network with others who have special needs and their families."
Doors will open 11 a.m. and the event will continue until 2 p.m. The first 250 attendees will be offered free hot dogs.
"I want to thank St. Luke's, Good Shepherd and all other sponsors of Special Needs Awareness Day for demonstrating such a strong commitment to people living with physical and intellectual disabilities," Mackenzie said. "It is important to help each individual to grow into his or her greatest potential and to live as independently as possible."
