Seat belt

enforcement

Salisbury police will participate in a statewide seat belt enforcement mobilization through March 21. The law enforcement activities will be conducted in the area of Salisbury High School and surrounding roadways used to access the high school. The enforcement, coupled with educational outreach efforts, aims to increase teen seat belt use and raise awareness of the state's primary law stating all vehicle occupants under 18 years old must wear a seat belt. Drivers and front seat passengers over 18 years old who are cited for another traffic violations will receive a second ticket if they are unbuckled.

Aggressive driving enforcement

Salisbury police will participate in a specially funded aggressive driving grant through Sept. 14. The grant will allow the police to assign additional officers on East Emmaus Avenue, East Susquehanna Street and Broadway to monitor and enforce dangerous aggressive driving acts. Officers will primarily target speeding, illegal passing and failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.

Retail theft

Carolyn Fiore, 68, of Allentown, was charged with retail theft following an incident at Bon-Ton, 3300 Lehigh St., Allentown 12:12 p.m. Feb. 25. Fiore allegedly had 12 Godiva candy bars concealed in her purse valued at $39. Fiore was taken to Central Booking for processing.

A person at the Lehigh County Work Release Prison reported the theft of a Trek mountain bike 8:48 a.m. Feb. 26 which had been chained to a tree. The tree was cut to remove the bike valued at $400.
