Good Cause: 'American Girl' benefits Junior League
The Junior League of the Lehigh Valley hosts the "American Girl Fashion Show," 10 a.m., 2, 6 p.m. March 8 and 1 p.m. March 9, Iacocca Hall, Mountaintop Campus, Lehigh University, Bethlehem.
The program showcases 162 local models presenting historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. There will be commentary, music and decorations at the family event.
The outfits worn by the models and their dolls are intended to resemble what "American Girl" characters Kaya, Caroline, Cécile, Marie-Grace, Josefina, Addy, Rebecca, Kit and Julie might have worn.
There are "Girl of the Year" Isabelle and Contemporary "Dress Like Your Doll" outfits for older girls and "Bitty Baby" fashions for the youngest girls.
The event includes refreshments, party favors and a doll salon.
Proceeds benefit the area Junior League's children's programs, including "Kids in the Kitchen," to encourage healthy lifestyles.
The 2014 title sponsor, Lehigh University Catering, will provide Americana-themed meals reflecting Isabelle's Washington, D.C., hometown and pink cupcakes for her love of ballet.
Event sponsors and partners include: Mandy Suro Photography, The Morning Call, The Moravian Book Shop, Allium Design, Sweet and Sassy, and Royal Graphics.
