CENTRAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL COLUMN CCHS to host blood drive March 12

Coming back to Central Catholic March 12 is the Red Cross blood drive.

This is the second opportunity for students to donate blood this year. Students 17 or older had the opportunity to sign up during their lunch periods. Students are encouraged to donate to help provide blood to anyone in need saving up to three lives with a single donation. Any student who donates is given a dress down day on March 12.

Many students understand the importance of helping the community and see this as a wonderful way to do so.

On March 17 Central will hold its winter sports awards. The event is held to recognize the success and hard work of the winter sports athletes of the 2013-2014 school year. Athletes from boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, swim and dive and wrestling are among those recognized for their commitment to their teams over the last four months to achieve the successes every team has had this year.

Parents are welcome to attend both Mass at 9:45 a.m. and the awards ceremony following at approximately 10:30 a.m. A short reception hosted by the Viking Booster Club will follow for senior athletes, team Most Valuable Players and their parents in Masson Auditorium.

Upcoming this spring is Viking Fest 2014. Held on April 5 from 6 to 9 p.m., this event is one of the largest fundraisers for Central Catholic and sponsorship opportunities are still available. The proceeds will be used for technology improvements at Central Catholic for all students. More information can be found on the school's website at www. acchs.info.
