Students hear CareNet program
Lehigh Valley Christian High School has done its best to tough through the delaying weather of this winter and to finish the quarter strong. We are already having to add days to our school calendar to make up for all the snow days.
Our girl's basketball team played in a PIAA district XI game Jan. 22 at Martz Hall in Pottsville against Marian Catholic. Unfortunately both our teams lost their games in the semifinals in our league, Atlantic Coast Christian Athletic Conference, down in Valley Forge, but had good seasons over all. Our Winter Athletic Awards Night has been moved to March 7.
Our LVC winter art show has been rescheduled many times due to the snow, and finally was scheduled for Feb. 25. There are many talented students here, not only in art, but also in drama. Our drama team has been working hard to prepare their spring musical, "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," that will be performed April 11-12.
Our choir will be participating in the annual ACSI Fine Arts Festival in Lancaster March 11.
Winter conditioning has only three more weeks until the spring sports begin. Track runners and throwers, soccer and baseball players look forward to the start of their seasons, even though spring might not start out to be as warm as they hoped.
On Feb. 22 there was a track clinic to start training new athletes and to help the veterans of the sport prepare for the season.
On Feb. 12, a CareNet representative came to speak after chapel about purity. Our freshman and the new students to our school heard a special abstinence presentation. We send our thanks to CareNet and what they stand for. We also thank Pastor Mike Poppa for speaking in our Day of Purity Chapel and Pastor Larry Burd for speaking to us about God's guidance in Chapel last week.
Friday, Feb. 28, is our Winter Spiritual Renewal Day. It will be led by a group of students from Lancaster Bible College. We are looking forward to this special day.
