Feb. 26 is Family Literacy Night 6-8 p.m. This is a night of activities for students and their families to come out and enjoy. The evening will consist of literacy activities hosted by Sheckler teachers. The computer lab will be open so students and family members can play reading games together.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in the cafeteria for families to shop and make purchases. There will be a prize basket auction going on, where participants can buy tickets for a chance to win baskets donated by the Home and School Association, classrooms and local businesses.

Also planned is a raffle for a child's bike. All proceeds will go to the Catasauqua Community Food Bank. Individuals who donate five nonperishable food items will receive a free raffle ticket.

Information tables for some great organizations will be set up in the gym.

CAST will also be there with the stars of this year's musical, "Annie Warbucks," offering opportunities to pose for pictures with Annie and her dog, Sandy. It's sure to be a fun-filled night for the entire family, so come on out and enjoy the evening together. All students must be accompanied by an adult.

Feb. 28 is read-in day, on which each student will be asked to read silently from 2:45-3 p.m. and will receive a Dr. Seuss pencil.

There will also be a trivia question contest daily.

A few reminders about requirements for TV Turnoff Week. Students who are participating are encouraged to take a pledge not to watch TV or play any video games for the entire week. They may, however, play computer games as long as they are educational.
