Dr. Michael J. Stamatakos, 90, of Allentown, died Feb. 8, 2014, at his residence at Luthercrest apartments. He was the husband of Dorothy H. (Schuster) Stamatakos for 58 years.

Born in Kingston, N.Y., he was a son of the late John and Helen (Larios) Stamatakos.

He received his pre-med education at the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a 1953 graduate of Hahnemann University Hospital.

He was a World War II veteran and served in Southeast Asia.

He was a doctor of radiology at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, for more than 50 years.

He was awarded the teacher of the year in 1977.

He was awarded the 1986 Lehigh County Medical Society Physician of the Year.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation Board of which he was the chairman from 2006 to 2008.

In addition his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael and John; two daughters, Elena Ramiraz and Carol Miller; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at a later date to be announced.
