LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Basketball team night at races

The Whitehall High School boys basketball team 4th Annual Night at the Races is scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at the American Club of Coplay. Doors open 5:30 p.m. and races begin 7 p.m.

Ticket prices are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door. The cost of the ticket includes beer, soda, barbecue, chips and pretzels.

Those attending will be able to bet on taped horse races. The taped races are secured so no one knows who the winners are.

Bets are sold for $2 each and you may purchase as many bets on as many horses as you would like or you can place multiple bets on a single horse. Another way to bet on the race is by purchasing a horse. You will have the opportunity to name your horse and if the horse wins the race you win $50. Each purchased horse has a 1 in 10 chance of winning.

For more information, call or email Linda Melosky at lmelosky@ ngmail.com or 610-730-4045.

The middle school canned food drive will begin at the end of this month.

Begin collecting and saving canned foods to donate to the school's annual collection drive. The students and staff at the middle school continue to make this a huge success.

Each homeroom has a friendly competition to collect the most items. The middle school will then help Second Harvest and the local Whitehall Food Pantry by donating the items collected for those in need.

Start stocking up. The drive begins Feb. 24.

Dream It. Do It. Dreamitdoitpa.com will be the ultimate resource for "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" news and updates.

In addition to offering resources about manufacturing careers, the website also hosts student videos for the project and the video voting later this month. A team of Whitehall Middle School students recently entered a video contest in conjunction with the project. The students along with teacher Mr. Tony Pangaio teamed up with Atlas Machining & Welding in Northampton to create a promotional video for their company and manufacturing in general.

Viewers can vote Feb. 24 through the 26 and choose their favorite video. You can visit the website and link to see more details and watch the video the students created.

Students and others are invited and encouraged to get involved and tag themselves in posts that may feature them in the future.
