Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Craig Hanzl pronounced Geraldine M. Jones, 58, dead at 3:48 p.m. and Rodger D. Jones, 52, at 3:50 p.m. Feb. 5, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.
The cause of death for both is attributed to multiple blunt force trauma, he said. Grim ruled the manner of both deaths accidents.
According to State Police Troop M Fogels-ville, Rodger D. Jones was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck north on Route 309 in the right lane when he apparently lost control of the truck on the slush-covered road.
The truck crossed the center line into the southbound lane and struck a 2012 Ford E350 super duty passenger van driven by Matthew T. Amey, 29, of Allentown, which was southbound on Route 309, a half-mile south of the intersection with Gun Club Road.
After the pickup entered the southbound travel lane, the front portion of the passenger van struck its passenger side mid-portion.
Following impact, the pickup came to a final rest facing west, partially in the southbound lane of Route 309, near the west shoulder of the road.
The passenger van came to a final rest facing south, partially in the southbound lane, near the west shoulder of the road.
Both Rodger D. and Geraldine M. Jones were wearing their seat belts, police say.
Amey, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported by Northwestern Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for minor injuries.
Germansville, New Tripoli and Lynnport fire departments assisted at the scene.
