Wear your favorite Super Bowl jersey tomorrow

Steckel and Zephyr elementary school students have a chance to celebrate the Super Bowl early, tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 31.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear a football jersey at the Steckel building tomorrow. Students and staff at Zephyr can join in the Super Bowl football fun by wearing the colors of the football team they think will win the Superbowl.

Remember, school will be in session Friday, Feb. 14. This will be used as a snow make-up day.

Report cards will be distributed today, Thursday, Jan. 30 for Gockley, Steckel, Zephyr and middle school students.

If you have any questions and concerns about your child's progress, contact your child's teacher.

If your child is absent from school for three or more days, you may request homework is collected for them. You must call the school to request homework. Homework must then be picked up in the main office before 4 p.m.

A PTO movie night is scheduled for the middle school 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

The next school board meeting is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 in the administration building on the Whitehall campus.

The school district has a new registration process for enrolling eligible children in kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.

The child must be 5 years of age before Sept. 1, 2014. Parents or guardians may begin the process starting Jan. 6.

Parents or guardians must access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website at www.whitehallcoplay.org. You then must select a date and time to meet with the enrollment secretary, Michelle Khouri, to present all the required documentation (see website). Parents or guardians will then be assigned an appointment to bring their child to meet with the guidance counselor, school nurse and reading specialists for a brief assessment at Gockley Elementary School March 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31.

The deadline to register kindergarten students online is March 14.
