Car hits pole
on Schochary
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Miriam E. Munoz, 19, of New Tripoli, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Schochary Road, just south of Bachman Road, Lynn Township, 9:03 p.m. Jan. 24 , when she apparently lost control of the car.
According to police, the the car traveled southwest before going off the roadway, hitting a utility pole on the western side of Schochary Road with its driver's side before coming to a final rest off the roadway facing southwest.
Munoz, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported by Northwestern Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Police say she was charged with driving at an unsafe speed.
The car was towed by Soley's Garage.
New Tripoli Fire Company assisted at the scene.
Suburban hits deer,
which then flees
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Robin A. Ruhmel, 51, of Whitehall, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban east on Kernsville Road, in the right lane just north of Wilshire Court, Lowhill Township, at 7:23 p.m. Jan. 22, when the vehicle struck a deer.
According to police, the deer traveled north across the right lane of travel, directly in front of the Suburban, which struck the deer with its front bumper.
After impact, the Suburban went off the right shoulder of the roadway, where it came to a final rest.
The deer fled north across Kernsville Road, police say.
Ruhmel, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured.
The Suburban was towed by Wagner Automotive.
