A New Tripoli man died after his car was struck from behind just after 5 a.m. Jan. 25, while it was parked along Route 22 East, in the area of Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem, Northampton County.
Mark Durrenberger, 56, of 6845 Flint Hill Road, was pronounced dead some 16 hours later, at 8:55 p.m., at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill Campus, Bethlehem.
Lehigh County Chief Deputy Coroner Paul F. Hoffman Sr. said Durrenberger died of multiple blunt force trauma.
The manner of death was ruled accidental, Hoffman said.
According to State Police Troop M Bethlehem, Durrenberger was the driver of a 2004 Buick Century struck from behind by a 2009 Mazda 3 driven by Michele Malitsch of Whitehall.
Police say the Mazda traveled out of the right lane of travel, striking Durrenberger's car.
Malitsch, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured, police say.
