It's been quite some time since the Salisbury girls' basketball team qualified for the Colonial League playoffs.
The Lady Falcons (now 9-3 in the Colonial League) haven't made an appearance in the league playoffs since the 2004-05 season, nearly nine years ago.
The Lady Falcons are certainly still in control of their own destiny. And it's by a solid margin.
As of Monday night, with four games left on the conference slate, the Lady Falcons are slotted in the third spot with a half-game lead over Bangor after Salisbury's 58–24 victory over Northern Lehigh on Monday night at Salisbury High School. The Lady Falcons hold a two-and-a-half-game lead over Notre Dame (Green Pond) and a two-game lead over Palmerton.
The team's victory against the Bulldogs was their eighth straight victory over the course of nearly three weeks. Six of those wins have come against conference foes, including a 60-37 romp over Palisades on Friday.
The Lady Falcons started the game by holding a 14-10 lead after the first quarter, but it wasn't until the second and third quarters that their defense helped put it out of reach.
The Bulldogs were held to four points in each of the second and third quarters, as the Lady Falcons built a comfortable 46-18 leading going into the final eight minutes.
Meagan Eripret led the way with a game-high 24 points, while Kelly Gonoude scored nine points. Amanda Rowlands added eight in the win.
With four games remaining, the Lady Falcons will have the benefit of playing three of those contests on their home floor. Following a home game against Saucon Valley on Tuesday, they'll host Notre Dame (GP) on Thursday and Southern Lehigh on February 6 to close out the season. They'll travel to Wilson on February 4.
