CENTRAL CATHOLIC COLUMN SAT prep classes begin Jan. 25

Starting soon, Central Catholic will begin offering SAT prep classes for seniors and juniors. There is one class for the English and reading sections of the SAT and another for the math section of the test. The classes will run five consecutive Saturdays Jan. 25 through Feb. 22.

These classes are highly recommended for any student who plans to take the SAT, especially because the classes cover topics with which a student may not be familiar. There is a cost for each class and the classes can be taken separately or together. The teachers in charge of the classes are Robert Baser, who will lead the English sections, and Jane Koneski, a math teacher at Central.

For all freshmen, sophomores and juniors, there will be a meeting Feb. 3 regarding class selection for the next school year. This is very important as it will determine the courses the student will be in next year.

Students will need to have teachers sign them into the class they feel they are ready for next year. It is very important all students take time to consider what classes they take.

Students need to think about what they want to take for the next few years and what they may want to study in college.

Also, talking with their teachers is very important. Teachers are familiar with what each class involves and can help guide students to a course they will not only enjoy, but do well in. Class placement is based on achievement in the first semester and criteria found in the program of studies booklet.

Class selection and registration fees are due by Feb. 24.
