Eripret surpasses 1,000 career points

Meagan Eripret knew she needed six points to reach 1,000 for her career.

She wasn't too concerned about it and didn't have any reason to be, as she scores an average of 20.7 points per game.

The Salisbury junior wasted no time in crossing the milestone early in the first quarter of Saturday's game at Notre Dame (East Stroudsburg). She didn't stop there, going on to a 34-point effort, a new career high.

"It's pretty exciting," she said. "It's quite the milestone.

"I had to put it out of my mind. If that's what I was thinking about it I would try to force too much and it would be a detriment to everybody else. You just have to let it happen."

Eripret's scoring average has increased every season since her 14.9 per game during her freshman season. After scoring 34 points that season, she scored 417 as a sophomore (18.1 per game) and is at 269 for this season with nine regular season games remaining.

"She works very hard," said Salisbury head coach Joe Mladosich. "She's 6-3 and she knows how to play.

"Obviously, if we're going to be successful, Meagan is going to score a lot of points. But Meagan's like all of our players. Her goal is to win as a team first."

Eripret is hoping to lead the team to its first league playoff berth in nine years. The team is already just three wins away from its third straight district playoff berth.

Eripret could also be on her way to another career scoring milestone. She needs just 448 points to reach the total her mother, Bridget (Cody) Eripret scored as a Falcon player.

"My mom was an excellent player," Meagan Eripret said. "I've always wanted to play just like she did. Getting up there with her would be great."
