The Whitehall-Coplay School District has a new registration process for enrolling eligible children in kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.
The child must be 5 years of age before Sept. 1, 2014. Parents or guardians may begin the process starting Jan. 6.
Parents or guardians must access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website at www.whitehallcoplay.org. You then must select a date and time to meet with enrollment secretary Michelle Khouri to present all the required documentation (see website). Parents or guardians will then be assigned an appointment to bring their child to meet with the guidance counselor, school nurse and reading specialists for a brief assessment at the Gockley School March 25, 26, 27, 28 and 31.
The deadline to register kindergarten students online is March 14.
***
The next PTO meeting at Gockley Elementary School will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the school.
***
Family trips are limited to seven school days per year. Any days missed for travel beyond the seven days of absence will be considered illegal if the student is 16 years of age or younger.
The Family Educational Trip Request Form, available in the school office, must be submitted to the office before departure. If the form is not submitted before the trip, the days will be considered illegal.
The district prefers all trips to be scheduled during the holiday breaks.
