Middle school yearbook orders are due between Jan. 6 and Jan. 15.

Students should bring in order forms along with payment for the yearbooks.

The Whitehall-Coplay School District has a new process for enrolling children in kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.

The child must reach age 5 before Sept. 1, 2014.

Parents or guardians may begin the process starting Jan. 6. The deadline to register students is March 14.

Parents must access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website at www.whitehallcoplay.org and then selecting a date and time to meet with enrollment secretary Michelle Khouri. During that appointment, parents will be asked to provide required documentation. Details on what is needed are found on the district website.

Parents or guardians will then be assigned an appointment with the guidance counselor, school nurse and reading specialists for brief assessments. These will take place in late March.

This year Gockley students can learn about simple ways they can help protect the environment.

The Gockley building is participating in Crayola's Color Cycle program. The program involves using old, dried up, used markers for clean energy.

If you visit www.crayola.com/colorcycle you can learn more about the process.

Instead of throwing the used markers into the trash and adding growth to landfills, the markers will be collected and sent back to Crayola.

There is no cost to participate in the program, which helps to preserve the environment.

If you would like to join in and help, you may send in old markers in baggies. There is a collection box in the art room. The program is being coordinated by art teacher Chad Brader.

The school will accept all plastic-bodied marker types of any brand, including permanent markers, dry erase and highlighters as well.

The next school board meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. in the administration building on the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus.

Community members are welcome to attend.
