A Gockley first-grade student is on a mission to collect shoes for those in need.
Anna Sensinger, a student in Melissa Arifaj's class, came up with the idea.
In return for a donation, she will make a personalized starburst bracelet for the donor.
Anna's family has encouraged and supported her endeavor. Local philanthropists have helped her identify area children in need by gender and shoe size.
Gockley staff members held a special spirit day Friday, Dec. 6 to help raise funds for Anna's project.
Anyone interested in donating a pair of new shoes through Anna's project is asked to contact her at burstsoflove@gmail.com.

The Whitehall-Coplay School District has a new process for enrolling children in kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.
The child must reach age 5 before Sept. 1, 2014.
Parents or guardians may begin the process starting Jan. 6. The deadline to register students is March 14.
Parents must access and complete the online registration by logging on to the district website at www.whitehallcoplay. org and then selecting a date and time to meet with enrollment secretary Michelle Khouri. During that appointment, parents will be asked to provide required documentation. Details on what is needed are found on the district website.
Parents or guardians will then be assigned an appointment with the guidance counselor, school nurse and reading specialists for brief assessments. These will take place in late March.
