Good Cause: KidsPeace honors Inez Donley, family
Members of Inez Donley's family attended the unveiling of a memorial in her honor at KidsPeace Donley Therapeutic Education Center, North Whitehall Township.
Inez Donley, who died in January at the age of 97, was a lifelong philanthropist. She was a KidsPeace board of directors member for 15 years and remained an honorary member until her death.
The Donley Foundation recently made a $25,000 contribution to KidsPeace to continue the work of Inez and her husband, Ed Donley.
The Donleys donated more than $1.47 million, including $1 million to create the Donley Therapeutic Education Center on the Orchard Hills Campus to help children and teenagers with behavioral and mental health challenges.
The Donley Society, formed in 2009, honors KidsPeace strongest annual financial supporters.
KidsPeace has proclaimed Aug. 6 (Inez's birthday), to be recognized annually as Inez Donley Day, a day to encourage KidsPeace associates to volunteer in the community.
The Inez Donley memorial was unveiled Oct. 25 during a ceremony and luncheon attended by community leaders and Inez's husband, Edward Donley, and their children, Martha, Tom and John.
