James J. Dooley Jr.

James J. Dooley Jr., of Allentown, died Oct. 13, 2013. He was the husband of Nancy Higgins Dooley with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He was the son of the late James J. Dooley and Helen McDonald Dooley.

He was a second team all-American center on the Penn State University 1949-1952 football team. It was here he met his wife whose father coached the 1930-1948 Penn State football teams.

He established his family in Allentown where he was president of the Myers, Benner Corporation.

He was a longstanding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Lehigh Country Club.

He was an accomplished pilot and traveling the world with his wife was one of his greatest passions. He enjoyed golfing, skiing and running with his family.

He is survived by his wife; children, Anne, James, Peter, Megan and Brian and their spouses, Bruce Ikeda, Colleen Dooley, Sean McKenna and Lisa Dooley; as well as his 11 grandchildren, Brian, Casey and Jamie Ikeda, Brendan, Kaitlin and Caroline Dooley, Grace and Cormac McKenna, Jackson, Maxwell and Margaret Dooley. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Dooley Miller, of Williamsport.
