A group of Steckel Elementary second- and third-graders show off masks as part of a program sponsored by PBS Channel 39. The three-part workshop series, designed to provide parents and caregivers with the skills necessary to help their children improve their literacy skills, took place in October. The school Title 1 reading specialists hosted the program, which was taught by specially trained PBS 39 educational facilitators. Participating families enjoyed pizza dinners before the start of the workshops and PBS provides each student with two free books of their choosing.
