STUDENT OF THE WEEK Jarrett Lagler
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: While it is difficult for me to choose one class, I would probably say AP Physics C is my favorite class. While the class demands a lot of work, I enjoy solving complex problems and gaining a better understanding of physics as a whole.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I am a member of National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. Every quarter of my high school career I have been on the Principal's Honor Roll. Additionally, at the beginning of my eighth grade year, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: Most of my activities revolve around my love for playing drums. Primarily, I am in a band called "Sailing Sweater" with former EHS students. This past summer, we played several shows including a performance at Bethlehem's Steel Stacks. Other than that, I am in the school's drum line and play for my church's student and adult worship teams.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: After high school I plan on pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or engineering physics and possibly pursue a master's degree in acoustical engineering. I hope to combine my passions for innovation and music in a future career.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: So far, my biggest challenge has been time management. Between five AP classes, marching band and a part-time job, it's challenging to balance getting all of my work done.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I hope to be remembered for striving for excellence in all areas of my life, whether it be music or academic, while maintaining a devotion to God.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My family consists of my father, William, my mother, Cheryl, and my sister, Taylor who is currently a sophomore studying mathematics at Millersville University.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: For me, I find inspiration from a wide group of people. I try to find the positives in various people who have excelled in certain areas of life, intellectually or morally, and synthesize them together as a composite role model.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Challenge yourself. Or don't. Really, just set your own goals and figure out what you need to do in order to reach them.
