Good Shepherd installs new CEO

The inauguration of John Kristel, MBA, MPT, who became President and CEO of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network June 1, took place Nov. 8 at Grace Lutheran Church, Allentown.

The installation was officiated by The Rev. Dr. Samuel Zeiser, bishop of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

Kristel assumed his new role upon the retirement of Sally Gammon, FACHE, who led the organization for more than 16 years. He is the fifth leader of the organization in its 105-year history.

Prior to joining Good Shepherd, Kristel was chief executive officer of Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Carlisle, Cumberland County, and vice president, operations, for the Atlantic Division of Health Management Associates.

He has more than 10 years of experience in senior leadership health-care roles, including serving as CEO of Berwick Hospital Center, Berwick, Columbia County, and as associate CEO of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown.

Kristel began his career as a physical therapist. He received an MBA from Temple University Fox School of Business, Philadelphia, and a master's degree in physical therapy from Drexel University, Philadelphia. He received a bachelor's degree from Temple University.
