Ever wonder how pulling on the wishbone started? It is believed that touching the bone brought good luck. Fights over the bone led to tugging on it until it snapped. The one with the longest piece was supposed to have his wish granted. This custom is part of our turkey tradition today.

Days to remember: Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day; Nov. 27, Hanukkah begins.

News for the Dec. 11 column must be received by Dec. 3.
