To the Editor:
A summer reading list for students at Salisbury Middle School is not a good choice!
If we have a summer reading list, it will keep us from enjoying our splendid summer hours we so long for every year as a kid. Kids will put off the reading assignments until the end of the summer and perhaps forget about it altogether. This responsibility will place unnecessary stress on the student at the beginning of the school year. Don't you see the need for kids to be outside or playing with their friends during the summer months?
Kids want to enjoy their summer free time they earned and have the ability to choose how they want to spend the time; certainly not completing school work! I know having a summer reading list to complete isn't the best way for students to use their time during the summer days off. Who wants to do work during the lazy days of summer?
