LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK Emma Wang

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is history. I never truly enjoyed history until the seventh grade when I went to Lower Macungie Middle School and had Mr. Smith for social studies. His genuine love for history led to my passion for it. Since seventh grade, my history teachers have only increased this appreciation by their excitement about it.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I received the second highest in a Future Business Leaders of America test and moved on to the state level competition. At the state level, I took a test on fashion marketing and placed third in that open event.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I run cross-country and winter track and in the spring I manage spring track. I work on costumes for the plays and musicals performed by our theatre department. I sing in Chorale and play the cello in our orchestra. I am also a member of Emmaus' Future Business Leaders of America club. I write for and am the managing editor of culture for "The Stinger," our school newspaper.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I would like to attend a university for fashion design and develop my side business "ECarolineDesign."

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: I have had a hard time deciding what to do in the future. I want to make a difference in the world that leads others to God, but outright ministry is too daunting for me. I found a balance between fashion and ministry by setting a goal for myself: to create modest, but stylish, clothing for young women in today's world.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: When I leave Emmaus High School I would like students, faculty and staff to remember me as a Godly young woman who strove to do her best in every aspect of her life.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My parents are Carol and Andrew Wang. I have two sisters: Sarah and Mary; and a dog named Albus.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I look up to many people but each for different reasons. I look up to C.S. Lewis for writing the books that brought Christianity to terms I could understand as a child. I look up to George Washington for stepping down when pushed to continue leading. I look up to Audrey Hepburn for remaining classy throughout her fame. I look up to Eric Liddell for having the courage to not race on a Sunday, even during the Olympics and actually performing better when he raced later.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: Live life without regrets. Regrets are not only missed opportunities, but can also result from stupid decisions.
