Whitehall-Coplay School District news
Students and staff at Gockley Elementary School will hold their Halloween parade today, Thursday, Oct. 31.
The morning kindergarten students begin at 10 a.m. Afternoon kindergartners and first graders start at 1:30 p.m.
Both groups parade around the macadam circle in front of the building.
In the event of rain, the parade will be held in the gym and cafeteria.
Parents are asked to refrain from parking in front of the school or along the grass. They should use the football stadium parking lot.

The Whitehall High School Chorus will hold a spaghetti dinner at Faith Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
Advanced tickets may be purchased from chorus members or you may pay at the door.
For more information, call 610-261-1474.
Funds generated from the dinner will help the chorus travel to Washington D.C. for a competition.

ESOL (English as a Second Language) Family Night will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the middle school.
ESOL students brought home information for the event.

Students and staff members at Zephyr Elementary School continue to celebrate Autumn Antics Week.
During the week the students have been making caramel apples.
The PTO is sponsoring the apple dipping fun, with parent volunteers visiting each homeroom to assist the students.
Today, Thursday, Oct. 31, is Wear Orange and Black Day.
Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 1, is Jersey Day.
Friday will also be the Zephyr Elementary's first schoolwide positive behavior quarterly celebration. Each homeroom was also given an owl to decorate and discuss good character.
Words of inspiration and examples of good character are on display in the building's foyer.
The banner of "Zephyr Beez Give a HOOT About Good Character" along with "ZEEB" the owl are perched upon the stairway for all to see.

Parents are reminded, family trips are limited to seven school days per year. Any days missed for travel beyond seven days will be considered illegal if the student is 16 years of age or younger.
The Family Educational Trip Request Form (available in the school office) must be submitted to the office before departure. Otherwise, the absences will be considered illegal.
The district prefers that all trips be scheduled during the holiday breaks.

The PTO trip to New York City for the Holiday Shopping and Lights Tour is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7.
