STUDENT OF THE WEEK Ferguson Watkins
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in 12th grade.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject is economics. It is quite interesting to see how the markets that affect you every day work as well as the big picture of what goes on in the country.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I will be playing in the National Association for Music Education All-National Honors Orchestra in Nashville at the end of the month. I am going to be part of Macy's Great American Marching Band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am in the Emmaus High School marching band as well as the orchestra and fitness team. I also play in the Lehigh University Philharmonic.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: After high school I am planning on going to college and hopefully continue on to graduate studies.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge is deciding what to do in college. I have a broad range of interests from music to science to history, so deciding what to do in college is a very tough decision.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I hope people remember me as a hardworking, decent person and a good friend to those around me.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My parents Nancy and Todd, my brother Max, and our dog Monk.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my brother Max. He is very dedicated to everything he does and is successful at what he puts his mind to, so that inspires me.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Always give 100 percent. Take everything you do seriously or you won't get everything you want out of it.
