To the Editor:
I subscribe to the East Penn Press. I read with great interest the Editor's view in The Press Oct. 23 [by Parkland Press/Northwestern Press Editor Debra Palmieri].
What I found to be most interesting were the sentences– "They are making an important point, one of which I support. The American people are in charge."
She is right the American people are in charge. That is why we, the American people, re-elected Obama for a second term.
If the majority of the American people had been unhappy with the passage of the Affordable Care Act, he would not have been re-elected. It is as simple as that. You can't remake the facts because you don't like the outcome. You can't claim that you are shutting the government down because it is the will of the American people when in actuality it is the will of a small number of American people.
If you can't find it in yourself to get on board with the Affordable Care Act, that the majority of the American people want, then at least don't cheer for it to fail.
