Resident thanks organizer for chairing Properties of Merit

To the Editor:

This recognition goes to Bill Leiner Jr., not for the best kept property but rather for spearheading a committee that recognizes the citizens of Coplay for their efforts in beautifying and maintaining not only the homes where they dwell but the community we live in. I'm talking about the Properties of Merit program.

It seems when it comes to the people of Coplay, Mr. Leiner's name is associated with everything that says to our citizens, people and the community that his political agenda takes a back seat.

I was surprised not to see any members of the Coplay Borough Council or our mayor at the Properties of Merit banquet Oct. 12.

Coplay, in order to become a "unified community," strives to come out from behind the political podium and into the hearts of its people.

In closing, I acknowledge our former mayor for his passion, drive and unrelentless energy to recognize our citizens as the foundation this town was built upon by making us all aware he cares enough to take the lead and make things happen compassionately, not politically.
