For Central Catholic High School students, PSATs fall on Oct. 16.
These preliminary SATs are administered to all freshmen, sophomore and junior students attending Central Catholic. These tests provide valuable practice for taking the SATs and allow students to become more familiar with the test.
The PSATs also provide the opportunity for acceptance to the National Merit Scholarship Cooperation scholarship programs. By taking the PSATS, students can be recognized for their academic talent and Juniors can be entered in a competition for scholarships from NMSC. By taking the PSAT, students can familiarize themselves with the SAT; recognize their weaknesses and identify areas that may need further review.
Central Catholic welcomes prospective families to their upcoming open house 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 in Masson Auditorium. Parents are invited to tour the school and see what Central Catholic represents, both academically and spiritually. Presentations from the English, theology and guidance departments will be given, allowing parents to see the academic side of the school, along with the support offered to each student.
There is also opportunity to speak with members of administration, teachers and students. Information regarding scholarships and financial aid will also be available. The open house is a great way for families to see the school up close. Currently CCHS has a student body of 770, with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1.
Central Catholic cares for its students and wants them to succeed. By offering opportunities such as these, Central encourages families and students to choose the path that best fits them.
