Barktoberfest is scheduled for noon-3 p.m. Oct. 19 in Upper Macungie Park, 1625 Route 100, Fogelsville. Rain date is Oct. 20.

There will be a pet parade at 12:30 p.m. and pet costume contest with judging announced 1 p.m. and a high flying K-9 act at 1:30 p.m.

The police department K-9 team will be on hand for a question-and-answer session and demonstration at 1 p.m.

There will be a bounce house, face painting, disc jockey, bake sale, games and more.

Food from Willow Tree Grove and Kasey Lynn's Catering will also be available.

Alla re invited to join Pastor Herbert Michel of Zion's Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road Kutztown, celebrate his 65th birthday and learn about 100 of his collection of more than 700 crosses 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19.

The Men's Group and the Adult Fellowship are co-sponsoring the event with food and fellowship at 6:30 p.m.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be having Halloween Trunk or Treat in the parking lot 6-8 pm Oct. 26.

There will be games, bobbing for apples and other fun activities.

Donations of apples, apple juice or punch, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, bags of candy, napkins and cups are needed.

Parkland Community Library staff and storyteller Larry Sceurman will present "Spooky Tales" 11 a.m.-noon Oct. 26 at the South Whitehall Township Building.

No registration is required.

The library is offering a five-week parent and child workshop for toddlers ages 1-5 and their parents 10:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 28 featuring local professionals, who will serve as resources for parents.

The goal of the workshops is to facilitate early intervention and to teach strategies for healthy child development and early literacy.

Movie night will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the library.
