Sheckler News

Friday, Oct. 11, is Fire Prevention Day at Sheckler Elementary School.

Students will be getting a visit from Catasauqua and North Catasauqua Fire Department volunteers who will be spending the day teaching students the importance of staying safe in the event of a fire as well as how to prevent fires from occurring.

Students will also get to see the fire trucks up close and get some first-hand knowledge of what it takes to be a firefighter.

School will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14, in observance of Columbus Day.

Regularly scheduled classes will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

I hope everyone enjoys their three-day weekend.

Remember, the first BoxTops for Education Contest running at Sheckler is coming to a close.

There is still time to get those Box Tops in to your child's class by Oct. 18 to help your child's classroom in being the top collecting class in their grade level.

You may continue sending in Box Tops after that day, as Sheckler collects them all year.

Any submitted after the 18th will go toward the next contest.

Every Box Top is worth 10 cents and helps earn cash for the school.

Good Luck to all the classes. Remember, top classes will earn a classroom party provided by Sheckler's Home and School Association.

Be sure to come on out and enjoy the parade and show your support for your community.
