The Allentown CROP Hunger Walk, sponsored by the Lehigh County Conference of Churches, is scheduled for Oct. 13.
Registration begins 12:45 p.m. at St. Timothy's Lutheran, Ott and Walnut streets, Allentown.
Walk begins at 1:30 p.m.
A 6-mile walk will wind through Allentown with rest stops along the way. A golden mile walk for golden-agers, families with children or dogs is also scheduled.
A quarter of the total proceeds of the walk will be shared between the Lehigh County Conference of Churches Soup Kitchen and the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank.
Pick up recruiter packets at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Crest Boulevard and Tilghman Street, or the Lehigh County Conference of Churches, 534 Chew St., both in Allentown.
Nonperishable food items will be accepted at the walk by the food bank.
Peanut butter and canned soups are needed.
President and CEO of Church World Service, the Rev. John L. McCullough, will be joining this year's CROP Walk.
Church World Service was born in 1946, in the aftermath of World War II.
