The students at Lehigh Valley Christian High School have gotten into the rhythm of the new school year.
A few new students have arrived and it is expected that more will come throughout the year. Most of our parents attended Back to School Night and were able to meet all of their children's teachers.

Special chapels this week feature guest speakers from Axis in Colorado, who will discuss Christian world views. They came two years ago to the school and made a very good impression.
These sessions are open to non-LVCHS students as long as they RSVP in advance.
A parent night with the Axis group, which is open to the public, takes place 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Lehigh County Choir concert took place Sept. 28, featuring all the best choir students from Lehigh County.
Representing our school were Matthew Weaver and Hannah Wintermute.

Pastor Appreciation Day was observed Oct. 2.
About 35 youth pastors and head pastors attended chapel and were recognized. We are very blessed to have such good pastors and thank them for all they do.

The PSAT exam will be administered to all of our 10th- and 11th-grade students Wednesday, Oct. 16.
This is a great practice test for the SAT exam, and is also a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship competition.

The freshmen held class officer elections recently.
Emily Mallaber was selected as treasurer, Seth Mickley as secretary, Keegan O'Brien as vice president and Katelin Gillespie as president. Congratulations.

Our annual student retreat this year is going to be held in the Catasauqua Park Friday, Oct. 11.
Highlights of the day include class competitions, the talent show and two more sessions with the Axis group.
Past talent show competitors have sung, danced and performed skits and, once, our very own accounting teacher, Mr. Seifert, showed us the proper way to dunk a krimpet in milk.

Our annual Outreach Day is Friday, Nov. 1.
Students and teachers will divide up into groups to minister or serve at locations around the Lehigh Valley.
We have already had students help out at the Catasauqua Fest O Fall and at St. Paul's Church AppleFest and chicken dinner.

We will host a community universal recycling event 7:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.
All businesses, nonprofits, households and community members are invited to recycle unwanted or broken items that day. A truck from Advanced Green Solutions will be at the school on Howertown Road, Catasauqua, to collect the items.

A craft and vendor fair is scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
The community is invited to stop by and enjoy all that we have to offer.

A clothing drive pick up is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28.
Items for the clothing drive can be dropped off in well-tied garbage bags at our gym door, beginning now.
Items accepted include wearable and usable clothing and coats; shoes, paired and in separate bags; accessories such as purses, backpacks, briefcases, belts, hats, gloves, scarves and ties; household linens such as blankets, sheets, pillows, quilts, comforters, tablecloths, curtains, towels and bath rugs; and soft toys including stuffed animals, rag dolls and Beanie Babies.
