Upper Macungie Township

Upper Macungie Township, South Whitehall and North Whitehall townships will be having 2013 Emergency Preparedness Day 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at St. Luke's West End Medical Center, 501 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall Township.

Learn how police, ambulance and fire personnel respond when disasters strike and how to prepare for the worst.

Firefighters, police and EMS will join together with equipment and displays.

There will be handouts from various vendors and demonstrations to make this a fun and educational event for families.

Food, rides and games will also be part of this outdoor event.

Zion's Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will have its fall festival 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 21.

Kauffman's barbecue chickens are on the menu.

Along with the chicken dinners, families with young children will be hosting a lemonade stand.

There will also be a bake sale, food stand, and craft and church flea market.

Call Cheryl Bailey at 610-683-8936 to bake or help at the bake sale table.

All proceeds will go to the building fund and furnishings.

To donate items to the church flea market table, bring items to the church 6-8 p.m. Sept. 19. No clothing, footwear or furniture accepted.

Volunteers are needed to price items and set up 6-8 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20. Help is also needed to unload cars 7 a.m. Sept. 21 and with cleanup at 2 p.m.

Help will also be needed on Saturday preparing chicken orders, and at the bake sale and church flea market table.

Upper Macungie Township and recreation board has coordinated with Fogelsville Elementary School to use the indoor courts for recreational volleyball.

This program will run 8-10 p.m. Tuesdays Sept. 24-March 25 (except Dec. 10, 24 and 31) for an average of 20 participants.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will be having a fundraiser featuring Psychic Medium Lauri Moore 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at Lone Lane Pavilion, 30 Lone Lane.

Have you ever wanted to communicate with a loved one on the other side, now might be your chance. To purchase a ticket, call the library.

Drop-in storytime for families with children of all different ages will be from 10:30-11 a.m. Sept. 20 and 27.

There will be stories, songs and games for the whole family.

The library will be having family storytimes 10:30- 11 a.m. Sept. 19, 25, 26 and Oct. 2 for children ages 18 months to 3 years.

There will be stories, songs and games for the whole family to share.

Younger and older siblings may also attend.

An adult must stay with each child.

Preschool storytimes for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years will take place 1-1:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 25, 26 and Oct. 2.

Parents must stay in the library, but do not have to attend storytime with the children.

There will be stories, songs, games, and crafts for all children.

No registration is needed for the drop-in storytime. Seating is limited for the family and preschool storytime, so registration is required.
