A ServSafe® course certification class will be offered Thursday, Nov. 14 and a certification exam Thursday, Nov. 21.
The registration fee for certification is $175 (fee includes book, study guide and exam).
The class and exam will take place at Penn State Extension – Lehigh County, Lehigh County Agricultural Center, 4184 Dorney Park Road, Room 104, Allentown, PA 18104-579.
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) requires that every retail food service operation have at least one employee who holds a "nationally recognized food safety manager certification" such as ServSafe®.
All individuals seeking to receive and maintain certification are required to pass a certification exam every five five years.
The ServSafe® course, conducted by Penn State Extension, is for individuals preparing for the exam. After attending the ServSafe® class (first day) and passing the proctored, multiple-choice exam (second day) with a score of 75 percent or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe® certificate, which meets the PDA requirement for food safety certification.
