ALBURTIS COLUMN Open house provides opportunity for recycling

Do you have recycling items to be picked up? Borough Hall will have a special pickup booth at the Alburtis Fire Company's open house Oct. 5. For more information, call the borough office at 610-966-4777. Only plug-in items (computers, televisions and items not picked up by the garbage collectors) will be accepted.

Alburtis senior citizens will have their last meeting of the summer at the gun club on Gun Club Road noon Sept. 18. The October meeting will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, Penn Avenue and Quarry Road. All Alburtis senior citizens are invited to attend both meetings.

The Sept. 12 Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society meeting is open to all those interested in the history of Alburtis and the surrounding areas. The 7 p.m. meeting is held at the society's headquarters, lower level, Church and Franklin streets.

To learn more about the society's activities, come to the Sept. 14 open house. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

There will be a Campfire Girls hoagie sale Oct. 5. There will be a fundraiser at Arby's Oct. 12. On Oct. 20, there will be a special bingo event at the community center featuring products from Vera Bradley, Longaberger and Pampered Chef. Sept. 15 is the last day to enjoy the best of country music at Alburtis Park, 328 S. Main St., next to the fire company. There will be a closing jamboree 3 to 7 p.m.

Remember Sept. 22 is the first day of autumn.
