Suburban North Y

The Suburban North Family YMCA in Catasauqua is accepting registrations for upcoming programs.

YMCA Preschool and Pre-K will begin this week.

Preschool is designed for 3- and 4-year-olds.

The program will emphasize social interaction, cooperation and cognitive development.

The Y provides children with a classroom experience that best meets their developing needs.

Age-appropriate activities provide a variety of fun learning experiences that revolve around an early childhood curriculum, while exploring gross motor skills, music, art projects and stories.

Children in this class must be potty trained.

Preschool is held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m.

There is a fee.

Pre-K is for youngsters ages 4 and 5.

This positive character-building program will promote the social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth of children who are ready to prepare for kindergarten.

The program features include learning letters, numbers, shapes, colors, arts and crafts, gym and outdoor activities, music, holiday programs and graduation.

This program is held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9 a.m. until noon.

There is a fee.

Y Dance is for children age 3 to adults.

The program will begin the week of Sept. 16.

It will conclude with a recital the last week of May at the Catasauqua High School.

Children will receive an extensive education in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical dance without the cost of a high-priced dance studio.
