The newest addition to our family is a tan Shepherd mix puppy named Daisy. Her wild tears through the house, puppy teeth biting frenzies and body slams have earned her the nickname "Crazy Daisy." Never underestimate the power of 30 pounds of barreling fur and muscle to knock you off your feet. Benjamin has been less than enthusiastic about the biting and scratching and was ready to send her back until he discovered a game he could play with her. He shines the flashlight on the floor and Daisy, in her effort to catch the light, chases it all over the family room. Later on she will wander around the room trying to find the lightbeam. It's a great way to burn off puppy energy!

The next column will be published Wednesday, Oct. 2; copy deadline is Thursday, Sept. 26.
