Sheckler Column

Sheckler Home and School plans fun events for the students and they organize fundraising to help benefit the school and the students.

The organization meets once a month to discuss topics and to plan future activities. The first meeting of this school year will be held Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. in Sheckler's library.

Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. It's a great way to stay involved and help as little or as much as you would like throughout the year. It's also a great way to meet other parents and work together to benefit the students at Sheckler.

Remember to turn in any physical or dental forms needed for your child to his or her homeroom teacher as soon as possible.

Many Sheckler families have been collecting those BoxTops for Education over the summer to help "turn trash into cash" for our school.

Box tops can be found on many General Millsb products including cereals, Betty Crocker products and bakeware, and on a variety of household supplies, including Ziploc brand and a variety of frozen foods.

Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. By collecting schoolwide, the amount adds up quickly.

Profits brought in are used to help fund special events, activities and field trips for the students throughout the school year.

Box Tops are collected by teachers.

Keep a lookout for upcoming submission dates and deadlines as well as any grade-level contests that may be held.

I hope everyone is having a great first week back at Sheckler Elementary School.

Just a reminder, school will be closed on Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2, for the Labor Day weekend holiday.

Regular classes will be back in session on Sept. 3.
