The Upper Lehigh Historical Society will host a presentation on Pa. Dutch lore and language 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Schneck House.

Orefield resident David Adam will share his knowledge of Pa. Dutch history and customs and will answer questions from the audience.

An active president of a Grundsow Lodge, Adam will comment on artifacts in the Schneck House and give the Pa. Dutch names for the items on display.

After some major summer fundraising events such as the Schnecksville Fair and the festival in the Neffs Church grove, the Upper Lehigh Lions are shifting to their next project.

Club members will be serving refreshments at Parkland home football games. Their food trailer will be set up at the north gate of the stadium.

Look for them Aug. 30 when the Parkland Trojans kick of against Delaware Valley.

Hannah Snyder-Samuelson, a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, traveled to Long Beach, Calif., for a denominational conference attended by 3,000 people.

Snyder-Samuelson, a college student who served as a committee chairperson, recently reported on the environmental topics considered at the conference.

She said the UCC expresses a need to honor the environment by addressing the issue of climate change, divesting its holdings in fossil fuels and working to make its buildings energy efficient.

"We need to be better stewards of this beautiful planet," Snyder-Samuelson says. "There are wonderful opportunities for the environment."

She noted the UCC is a compassionate, thoughtful denomination that em-braces diversity on controversial issues.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will hold Rally Day Sept. 8 with a return to the 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship times. Education hour is at 9:15 a.m.

Union Lutheran will accept book donations Sept. 1-7 for its Book Fest on Sept. 8.

Books will be available in the Gathering Space from 9 a.m.-10:45 a.m.

The public is welcome noon-2 p.m. to come and stock up on free books.

St. John's United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will celebrate Rally Day Sept. 8 with Sunday School beginning a new year at 9 a.m.

Worship returns to the 10:15 a.m. time.

The church is collecting clothing, shoes, accessories, household items, and toys.
