Locals named to dean's list

Stephen Z. Mertz and Luke P. Serensits, both of Whitehall, attained dean's list for the spring 2013 semester at St. Joseph University.

Mertz is majoring in mathematics and Serensits is a chemical biology major.

Students must achieve a GPA 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes and complete at least 15 credits to earn dean's list status for a semester.

Krall inducted into honor society

Elizabeth Krall of Whitehall was recently inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society at Susquehanna University.

Krall is a rising senior majoring in music education. She is a 2010 graduate of Whitehall High School and the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Krall.

Kappa Delta Pi is an honor society for current and future educators. The purpose of the society is to promote excellence in, and recognize outstanding contributions to, education.

Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high achievement, a commitment to education as a career and a professional attitude that ensures steady growth in the profession.
