St. John's Evangelical Lutheran and St. John's UCC, Fogelsville, will be having a joint outdoor worship service 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8 at the upper pavilion in Breinigsville Park.

The service will be followed by the annual church picnic.

The worship service and picnic will take place rain or shine.

Bring lawn chairs, and a salad or dessert to share.

The Mission Team of Ziegels Church, Brein-igsville, will be having its fourth shrimp boil 4-6 p.m. Sept. 8.

The adult meal contains a salad, a half-pound of shrimp, sausage, potato, corn, drink and dessert.

Child's meal includes salad, a quarter pound of shrimp or a hot dog, sausage, potato, half a cob of corn, drink and dessert.

Eat in or take out will be available.

All proceeds will be used for disaster relief recovery work.

Blue Mountain Nursery will have a perennial plant sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 7 and noon-2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the church.

Plants will be available in quarts and 1- and 2-gallon pots.

Grasses and knockout roses will be available in 3 gallon pots.

Plants will be tagged with descriptions and care information.

All plants will be donated and 100 percent of the profits will be given to Ziegels' youth groups.

The Knitting Circle will meet 1:30-4 p.m. Aug. 22 at Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall.

Bring knitting materials for a fun afternoon swapping knitting tips and tricks. The circle is for all ages and skill levels.

Join Books into Movies for adults to discuss "The Reader" by Bernhard Schlink 7-8 p.m. Aug. 28.

The library will be closed Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 for Labor Day.
