Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will be having a family day picnic Aug. 11, beginning with an indoor worship service 8:30 a.m., Sunday School at 10 a.m., followed by the 11:05 a.m. outdoor worship service, weather permitting.

Lunch will follow the outdoor service.

The main dish will be provided, but bring a covered dish and dessert to share. After lunch, there will be games and entertainment for everyone.

They are also looking for volunteers to work a shift serving turkey barbecue, walking tacos and cabbage and noodles at Night In The Country from 4-10 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Northwestern Recreation Commission Fields.

Upper Macungie Township will be presenting its last Movies in the Park of the season with "The Pirates: Band of Misfits" Aug. 9 at Breinigsville Park.

This PG-13 rated movie is a fun-filled adventure of plundering and hilarious pirate antics with the biggest Band of Misfits on the seven seas.

There will be games and activities for children starting at 7 p.m. prior to the movie at sunset.

Parkland Community Library's Summer intern and teen read final party will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall. RSVP no later than Aug. 8.

They will be tie dying. Bring a 100-percent cotton T-shirt, bandana, bag, pillowcase or socks.

Children entering grades six to 12 and their families are welcome to join the Parkland Library and LVAAS at the South Mountain observatory (rain or shine!) for a planetarium show and observation of the beautiful summer night sky from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

Night at the Movies will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.
