Camp Cementon moves and grooves
The hottest week of the summer surely did not deter our campers from having fun inside and outside for our Movin' and Groovin' week.
Campers came prepared with iced water bottles and extra sunscreen to combat the burning sun and were excited for pool time every day.
We started our week by being true to our theme of Movin' and Groovin.' Campers played freeze dance and also danced to famous songs such as "Cotton Eye Joe," "Cha-Cha Slide" and the "Cupid Shuffle." Our head counselor, Beth Ann, even taught the kids and fellow counselors a new dance to go along with the song "Some Nights" by the band Fun.
On Tuesday, campers were eager to tie-dye their white T-shirts, shorts and tank tops. We all had fun trying and mixing different designs and colors and many campers were excited to tie-dye for the very first time.
Wednesday came with a flash and before we knew it, we were on the bus to Rascals. With amazing pizza provided and Rascals cards in hand, the campers took off to start playing some games. Some campers ran to the bumper cars immediately while others took on the counselors in a campers versus counselors laser tag game, with the counselors winning.
Many campers were mesmerized by the Wheel of Fortune game and many got lucky and won more than 1,000 tickets.
On Thursday, we played battleball and kickball and, when it finally became too hot outside, we headed inside and danced some more. Campers got to take their tie-dye shirts home and were very proud of the colors and designs they created.
The week flew by and we found ourselves on Friday morning all dressed in our tie-dye apparel and ready to play some games and jump off the diving board. The campers even got to learn the "Cup Song" made popular by Anna Kendrick from the movie "Pitch Perfect," and had fun playing games such as fastest in the west and drip, drip and splash (a modified duck duck goose game that includes water) outside.
We all created wonderful memories and week four of camp Cementon is definitely one to remember.
Our campers of the week were decided on Friday and were Andrew N. and Kristine L.!
We had such an amazing week and are ready for more fun-filled summer days at Camp Cementon.
