Two icons of the silent film era will share Civic Theatre of Allentown's silver screen when Civic presents another installment in its ongoing series of silent film classics at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6

The double bill features Harold Lloyd in "Safety Last," preceded by the short, "One Week" with Buster Keaton.

"Safety Last" has been digitally re-mastered. Both films be shown with Civic's new HD digital projection system which was installed in June.

Organist Don Kinnier accompanies both films. Audiences who attended Civic's screening of "The General" and "Why Worry?" marveled at the virtuosity of Kinnier, called "the premier silent film accompanist in the northeastern United States." Kinnier's appearance at Civic Theatre is sponsored by Allen Organ.

In "Safety Last," Harold Lloyd plays a small-town bumpkin trying to make it in the big city, who finds employment as a lowly department-store clerk. He comes up with a wild publicity stunt to draw attention to the store, resulting in an incredible feat of derring-do on his part that gets him started on the climb to success. The film features the iconic image of Harold Lloyd hanging from a clock above a busy city street.

In "One Week" two newlyweds (Buster Keaton and Sybil Seely) receive a build-it-yourself, house as a wedding gift. The house can be built, supposedly, in "one week". A rejected suitor secretly re-numbers packing crates, however, and nothing goes exactly as planned.
