Camp Jefferson kids enjoy week three
Camp Jefferson started off the week by playing an all-time favorite game of four square.
We then split into two teams and played kickball. Team one won 6-4. Next we played dodge ball and splash out with team two winning and Erica winning the last question. We finished our camp day off with water polo and some rest and relaxation.
On Tuesday, we went to North Museum in Lancaster, and the kids really had a blast. We viewed a dinosaur exhibit, learned what it takes to cut a diamond, learned about various lizards, birds, types of rocks, and even viewed a 3D show about sea monsters in their famous planetarium.
The kids then got to roam around and explore the other exhibits. Who says we can't learn in the summer?
On a rainy Wednesday, this week's perfect indoor craft was slime. After hearing this, all the campers yelled with excitement. Counselors Erin and Francheska mixed glue, water and Borax to make a slimy concoction. After the slime was distributed, counselors John and Chloe poured food coloring and gave each of the campers spoons to mix the colors. After cleaning up, we played sleeping lions and Indians and chiefs; two great indoor games.
Thursday was a beautiful day for playing outside. Counselor John had a great idea to split up the campers for a new game called handball. They really enjoyed throwing and passing the ball to score goals. It really wore the kids out!
For the campers who were tired from handball, we played spud with Austin being the last one standing. Later, counselor Francheska gave manicures to the girls. It was as if it was straight out of a salon.
Friday's theme was wacky day. Campers and counselors dressed up as wacky as they could. We played some four square and let the campers have some free time to start the day. After getting everyone together, we played knockout and then named the campers of the week. Kendra and Niko were great picks for campers of the week because they were so well behaved and always had a great attitude about everything we did in camp. Congratulations, guys!
We then ended the week having a blast at the pool and seeing the creativity of some of the campers' wacky outfits.
