STUDENT OF THE WEEK Tyler Brown
Q: What grade did you just complete?
A: I just completed 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What was your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject was probably AP computer science. I really enjoy programming and understanding how a computer actually solves a problem, or even how it works, for that matter. It makes you look at problems in a different way.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: Yes. I was a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society; I was on the principal's honor roll and athletic director honor roll; student of the month for computer science department; high school scholar All-American nominee for National Soccer Coaches Association of America; EHS academic excellence award; district chorus for three years; regional chorus for two years and varsity soccer letter.
Q: Were you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: Yes, I was on the boys varsity soccer team and a member of Kid to Kid (an anti-drug and bullying group), Fermata Nowhere, National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, orchestra and chorale.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: I am going to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to hopefully dual major in computer engineering and computer science.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: Pushing through all the stress and work from school and other activities has been the biggest challenge so far.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I really don't know. If people remember me for positive things, that's good enough for me.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My mother, Donna, my father, David, and my older brother, Christopher.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my parents. They're very hardworking and have provided me great opportunities.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: I don't really have any advice. Just work hard. It always pays off.
